The Crown is a beautiful British country pub and restaurant offering a delicious menu, fine wine list and great cask ales.
It is situated in Burchetts Green, a small village to the West of Maidenhead in the county of Berkshire.
The Crown serves heart-warming, seasonal food in the environment of a cosy English pub. Menus celebrate the best of the changing seasons and are rooted in the Englishness of all its produce while raw ingredients are carefully and sustainably sourced from trusted suppliers.
Items on the menu include cavatelli of butternut squash, purple sprouting broccoli, walnuts, ricotta & parmesan; line caught cornish sea bass, “cassoulet” cannellini beans, morteau sausage, parsley and 8oz Hereford entrecote steak, triple Cooked chips, mushrooms, bacon, onions, red wine sauce.
Michelin Star chef Dominic Chapman, who was formerly proprietor of the Beehive at White Waltham, Berkshire, took over The Crown from Michelin star chef Simon Bonwick in June 2022.
Chapman was also head chef at the Royal Oak, Paley Street, where during his tenure the pub gained its Michelin star. He was once a head chef for Heston Blumenthal and is a fourth-generation chef as the highly regarded Castle Hotel in Taunton has been in his family for over 60 years. Chapman has also become known for a string of TV appearances on BBC2’s Great British Menu.
In 2023, The Crown was listed in the Michelin Guide of Great Britain & Ireland where its food was described as “rewarding and flavoursome”. It highlighted the “delicious” potted chicken and duck liver parfait with fig chutney as “a perfect match for the warm and comforting surroundings.”
Chapman also took over as executive chef at new restaurant The Relais, Henley at the beginning of 2024. The restaurant is named the Restaurant Dominic Chapman and marks the first time in the chef’s career that he has lent his name to a dining room.
