Led by Mary and Nick, who arrived at the pub in 2014, the duo have instilled their love of French hospitality throughout the 18th century venue which is brimming with character, open fireplaces and cosy corners to idle the time away in.
The pub offers a new take on elegant food, with wines matched effortlessly and all delivered with only the highest standards of service.
Only the finest ingredients will make it onto the diners’ plate, with Nick and Mary having the upmost respect for the raw product.
Although the dishes may look simple, on first bite the eater will learn that a lot of intelligence and technical detail has gone into every aspect on the plate.
Menu highlights have included confit duck pressing with spiced pear, lovage mayo and pickled red onions; grilled Cornish brill on the bone with tarragon gnocchi, spring cabbage and fennel and ajo blanco sauce; and 72% chocolate custard with streusel biscuit, raspberries and a cocoa tuile.
