The Fishpool Inn in Delamere promises a ‘true taste of Cheshire’, serving a combination of classic comfort food alongside modern British and European dishes.
In an enviable location on the edge of the Delamere Forrest, the recently refurbished gastropub has a cosy, friendly feel, priding itself on its hearty pies, Italian-style pizzas and flatbreads.
‘Dishes of the month’ at the pub include wild sea bass a la Plancha with red pepper coulis, artichokes, blush tomatoes, olives and basil pesto; and an apple, bacon and gorgonzola pizza.
Despite its traditional 18th Century exterior, the Fishpool Inn is kitted out with an environmentally friendly and sustainable kitchen that has proved energy efficient and resulted in a much lower carbon foot-print than other similarly sized kitchens.
Traditional Cheshire past times have been incorporated into the pub’s interior in a nod to the area’s heritage, with lights made from fishing rods, chair arms from antlers and seating booths made from stalls at the Duke of Westminster’s nearby Grosvenor Estate.
The wet side of the business is as impressive as the food offer, with beers coming from a selection of local microbreweries and 16 single malt whiskys to choose from, including Japanese Yamazaki.
