The Rising Sun

This award-winning gastro pub sits on Mitchell Hill in Truro and is over 200 years old.

Tom and Kate Hannon took it over the eight years ago when they described it as “a very dark and sad shell of a pub.”  It took a large amount of work and a lot of labour to create their vision of a modern pub.

Tom Hannon, who is chef patron, has a love of food culture and with the abundance of stunning produce in Cornwall he showcases the best quality, seasonal and responsibly sourced ingredients in his creative menus.

But The Rising Sun is still a pub and everyone is welcome to pop in for a drink. As well as beers there are sophisticated wine and spirits list. The pub also runs a Secret Cellar list comprising of a limited collection of Tom and Katie’s favourite wines of the moment.

The pub is also a finalist in the sustainable pub category of the Great British Pub Awards 2023.
