This Cumbria-based gastropub is no stranger to the Top 50 list, hitting its seventh year.

Dishes available for diners to enjoy include celeriac and hazelnut kiev, potato terrine, tenderstem broccoli; Venison loin, beetroot fondant, red onion tart tatin, parsnip and duck breast & leg, turnip, sprouts, toffee apple, madeira sauce.

On the Sunday menu, guests visiting this Lake District inn can enjoy traditionally British dishes with reinvigorating twists including pork belly, pudding, baked celeriac, truffle & crackling or artichoke and truffle tagliatelle, lemon and herb crumb.

The pub can also be proud of a strong set of starters, including shitake & oyster mushroom gyoza, red pepper broth, pak choi, sesame and mussels, curry sauce, kohlrabi, apple.

On Sunday’s guests are treated to venison wellington with all the trimmings.

Barngates Brewery is tucked behind the celebrated gastro pub. The beers are named after former pets that inhabited the inn and, as well as providing ale to the Drunken Duck, the brewery supplies a few other pubs in the area.
