The owners of critically acclaimed London gastropub The Pelican and The Bull in Charlbury, Oxfordshire, have expanded into a third site with The Hero in London’s Maida Vale.
Owners James Gunner and Phil Winser have joined forces with head chef Ed Baillieu to introduce a menu focusing on pub classics as well as more elevated dishes.
On the ground floor the pub serves nostalgic British food and cask ales in a casual atmosphere. Dishes include snacks such as cheese toastie and cod cheeks and curry sauce. Mains include staples such as sausage and mash and ham, egg and chips.
On the first floor, The Grill Room specialises in meats and fish cooked over an open fire, offering a more refined dining experience with signature sharing dishes such as monkfish, sprout tops and venison, chard.
On the second floor is The Library, a cosy retreat for enjoying classic cocktails with a bartender in residence. There is also a private dining room.
The Loft is an event space on the third floor tailored for gatherings and celebrations, with a dedicated bar catering for sit-down meals and special occasions with drinks and canapés.
