The ivy-clad inn with rooms above the pub and at a former Grade II-listed vicarage down the road, is located in the Herefordshire countryside just a few miles from the Welsh border.
The pub has won numerous awards and acclamations for its food and drink and has been favourably reviewed by some of the country’s top food critics.
It has been named Herefordshire Dining Pub of the Year several times, as well as featuring in the Good Pub Guide and a top 20 pub in the Good Food Guide.
The menu changes approximately every two months, depending on the time of year.
Popular dishes include Herefordshire beef fillet, caramelised shallots, red wine sauce, spinach and chips; and Madgett’s farm confit duck leg, pear, spinach, fondant potato. The pub also offers a bar snack board and a separate vegetarian and children’s menu.
The pub offers eight wines by the glass. There is also Joseph Perrier Champagne by the glass, local wine from Broadfield Court and four pudding wines.
It also has a range of digestives and malt whiskys. A cocktail list makes use of Chase Distillery’s vodka and gin. Local ales and ciders also feature heavily. There is also a range of soft drinks several from local suppliers.
