The venue is a labour of love from all who work there, who offer guests a professional, yet warm and friendly experience.
Head chef Robert Mantegna is at the helm creating unique dishes highlighting local seasonal ingredients.
The pub offers a range of carefully selected, and interested, drinks from wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks to ensure every taste is catered for.
When it comes to food, Mantegna and his team know what they are doing and we’d advise you start any meal – or drink for that matter – with the chef’s lobster raviolo served with buttered leeks and bisque espuma.
For mains, dishes have included pressed polenta with parsley sauced, baby carrots, pickled shallots and feta cheese; wild mushroom risotto with summer black truffle, parmesan and crème fraiche; and pan fried cod with buttered beans, watercress, lemon verbena and basil beurre blanc.
There’s also a grand selection of desserts and cheeses to round off the perfect meal.
On the mains menu dishes have included a black garlic risotto, pickled shimeji, pecorino romano for vegetarians.
Diners could also try pan-fried hake with pressed lyonnaise potato & shellfish sauce.
Those with a sweet tooth can choose from an impressive dessert menu ranging from toasted coconut and green cardamom rice pudding to milk chocolate mousse, served with candied kumquats and vanilla ice cream.
The gastropub also has eight individually styled guest bedrooms.
The pub took home the title of Front of House Team of the Year at the 2021 Damm Top 50 Gastropubs awards. Of the win, judges said: “The standards of service at this year’s winner have continued to improve from an already near perfect position.
The team at the Dog at Wingham really do go that extra mile to ensure every diner’s and drinkers’ experience in the pub is topnotch.
From the chefs in the kitchen, to the bar staff and front-of-house, your experience at this pub will be second-to-none.
