The Devil’s Advocate is a bar & restaurant in the historic and atmospheric Old Town of Edinburgh.
It is situated in an old Victorian pump house hidden away up Advocate’s Close. There is a mezzanine dining area and a 300 strong whisky shelf as well as a food menu that boasts seasonal and Scottish ingredients that change regularly.
The kitchen team enjoy creating lunch and dinner menus that hold true to the quality, seasonal Scottish produce, whilst providing a modern dining experience.
Favourite starters include their black haggis celeriac purée, crispy leeks, apple gel, rocket and whisky cured Scottish salmon, sourdough melba toast, horseradish aioli, pickled red onion.
Mains include dishes such as chicken breast, black pudding boulangère, sweet potato purée, fine beans, lemon thyme jus; duck breast, black pudding boulangère, sweet potato purée, fine beans, plum & ginger sauce and steaks specially selected by John Ritchie, Master Butcher at John Gilmour Butchers.
As well as the eclectic collection of over 300 Scottish and world whiskies the award-winning bartenders also serve inventive seasonal cocktails, a considered wine list and selected craft beers.
The venue is part of the Bon Vivant Group which also runs the Bon Vivant, The Register Club, Lady Libertine and Luckenbooths in Edinburgh.
