Husband-and-wife team Ben and Priya Watson run The Golden Ball, a modern British pub-restaurant, set in the beautiful Stonor valley just outside Henley-on-Thames.
Ben spent ten years in London working alongside some of the UK’s most celebrated chefs including Jason Atherton and Gordon Ramsay and helped to launch Core by Clare Smyth, the renowned Notting Hill restaurant.
Priya spent many years working at the front of house in highly regarded London restaurants including The Square, Gymkhana and Brigadiers.
The small but frequently changing menu features modern British cooking with the occasional subtle touch of Indian spice.
All starters and mains are prepped and cooked to order by Ben. Starters include dishes such as roasted breasts of quail, grilled onion, pan fried mushrooms, roasted hazelnuts, English truffle and pan roasted Loch Duart salmon, pickled cucumber, seaweed & salmon roe, buerre blanc, buddha's hand citrus.
An equally delicious choice is available on the mains dishes such as tamarind glazed creedy carver duck breast, 'aaloo tikki, spiced squash, mint & coriander salad, 'Dal makhni' duck sauce and pan roasted fillet of Cornish cod, 'potato chat', spiced cauliflower, tamarind sauce.
The pub has an AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence, is a Bucks and Oxon Muddy Stiletto’s winner 2024 and has been listed in the Michelin Guide 2024.
