The venue has a strong history being first recorded as an alehouse on 8 March 1855.

It offers a range of freshly prepared menus - main menu, children’s menu and Sunday menu - made from locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, along with a selection of real ales, ciders and lagers. The wine list is carefully selected to be paired with its food as well as being great to enjoy on its own.

The main menu changes daily offering delicacies such as Venison Haunch with dauphinoise potatoes, Pheasant Breast wrapped in Serrano ham as well as Sweet Potato & Mushroom ‘Shepherd’s Pie.’

As well as being a pub for the locals, of which there are just over 400 in Dockenfield, it is in a great location for those visiting the area.

There are lots of things for the whole family to do nearby including a visit to Bird World or the Alice Holt Forest, which is part of the South Downs, National Park. It has a wide selection of recreational outdoor activities like table tennis, badminton and a play park.
