Nestled in the heart of the South Downs, The George at Burpham is a 18th century Grade II listed pub celebrated for its AA Rosette-winning cuisine.
The pub has been owned by the community since 2006 but leased and managed by local husband and wife team, Martin and Charlotte Bull, who took over the pub in 2023.
Martin has a strong food background working as a head chef for Cirrus Inns as well as working at and owning AA Rosette and Michelin recommended venues.
Menus change regularly as they work with suppliers and aim to source the majority of produce from within 20 miles of the pub. They partner with local farms, fishmongers and dairy producers to ensure that the items on the menu support the local environment and communities of the South Downs.
Typical dishes on the menu include venison scotch egg, quince aioli, pickled fennel & leaves; pheasant terrine, pear & date chutney, sourdough; date molasses roast duck, squash & ginger puree, pak choi and roasted heritage carrots, lentils, carrot top pesto, whipped feta.
