Nestled in the picturesque South Downs National Park, near Alfriston, The Sussex Ox is a relaxed country pub for every season.
But it is not just a country pub it also has its own organic farm, surrounded by breathtaking 360-degree views.
Customers can enjoy a farm to fork experience dining and drinking in its cosy bar, two dining rooms, terrace, and extensive garden.
Menus are crafted by head chef Charlie Brookman and his team focusing on seasonal hearty dishes.
The menu changes regularly with the seasons with chefs being inspired by produce reared and grown on the farm, as well as forage from the surrounding area.
The 100-acre Sussex farm embraces the principles of organic farming and no-dig growing and its dedicated team ensures a constant supply of fresh produce to its kitchen year-round.
The farm nurtures South Downs cross sheep and pedigree Sussex cattle which are grass fed and organically reared. Alongside is its fruit orchard, greenhouse, vegetable patches, and herb and flower gardens, which are picked to order ensuring freshness.
Where the pub or farm cannot provide or grow something they source from some of the best local suppliers ensuring they can be 100% honest with its guests about the provenance of ingredients.
Dishes on the menu include Sussex Ox farm prime steak with Café de Paris butter, fries, green salad; Sussex Ox farm lamb pie with mashed potato, carrot, gravy along with BBQ smoked hispi cabbage with potatoes, coconut curry sauce, onion and fennel pakora.
There is also a set menu running from Monday to Thursday all day and Friday lunchtimes.
It also has a private dining room, a renovated stable that can accommodate up to 25 people for all sorts of occasions from family get-togethers, birthday parties, wedding dinners, and Christmas parties, to workshops, meetings, and conferences.
The bar is stocked with natural wines, local craft beer, real ales and cocktails.
