Legend has it that when the Warwick section of The Grand Union Canal was being built in the early 1800s the tavern on Crompton Street was charging a mere four pennies for a cup of coffee and a tot of rum. And the rest is history as they say.
The pub has had a few other names over its lifetime; The Paul Pry, The Warwick Tavern and The Old Fourpenny Shop. It is now a small owner operated venue just minutes from the heart of Warwick.
At The Fourpenny Pub, you will find six ever-changing real ales, craft lagers, ciders and a global selection of fine wines.
Food menus have been designed so they are affordable, seasonal, generously portioned and use locally sourced produce. There is a selection of traditional pub classics and old favourites, as well as daily specials. On Sundays, customers can also choose from a selection of roasts served with fresh vegetables, home-made Yorkshire puddings and gravy.
Dishes on the main menu include the Fourpenny fish pie served with traditional mash and sea greens; confit duck leg served on a bed of apricot mash with a mulled red wine sauce plus the pub classics of beer battered fish and honey and mustard roast ham.
